LANDED ON LIFE Landed on Life is a wave of stories washed up from the western coast of Jutland. About a place you most likely don’t know. A family’s experiences form the framework for the tales of the town of Rungholt, which, like another Atlantis, sank into the sea one night; of the bank robbery that was forgiven by the police before it even went to trial; of the father who went into debt and had to flee to Canada; and of the time when a group of sixteen whales stranded on the beach of Rømø.
The author behind The Danish Techno King Third Wife, who now debuts under his South Jutland name Mikkel Sönnichsen. After a year as one of the most played Danish techno musicians on Spotify, he has now ventured into childhood anecdotes and guides on how to, for example, best perform a quality cannonball in a swimming pool.
The novel is richly illustrated by the artist and techno prince, Thomas Lyngfeldt Skov. Like Mikkel, Thomas has abandoned the dark rhythms and now lives in harmony with the cormorant on Orø.
What the reviewers say:
“…It is not easily swayed by the need for a grand existential justification, instead keeping its focus on telling a small slice of life in a small corner of Southern Jutland. And through that humility, it comes across as incredibly powerful."”
– Litteraturnu, Harald Toksværd
"Landed on Life" steps lightly outside the conventional boundaries of contemporary, pathos-inducing memoir literature, and largely avoids the often predictable literary path through the provincial landscape of childhood. All of this with an energetic and simultaneously understated protest..”
