"Great resurrection: It sparkles and simmers in the comic about the bleak existence of the afterlife in the dead city of Necropolis."
– Politiken

"A grand little piece of morbid humor over any form of top-down control – whether it takes the form of a divinity or a bureaucratic system."
– Nummer 9

After an overdose of acid and sour cream, the punk Nigel is transported to the dead city of Necropolis. In the shadowy nightmare city of bones and decaying structures, inhabited by skeletons and mutated horrors, Nigel must try to escape before he is consumed by Necropolis' madness and the black Sisyphean curse of eternity.

In 2003, Simon Petersen and Cav Bøgelund made their comic debut Necropolis. A small, stapled booklet, published by their own pulp publisher Eksem Comics. In underground comic circles, it is regarded as Necropolis it was Denmark's first graphic novel. A colorless monstrosity on the Danish comic book market and a significant break with the French/Belgian album tradition of 48 pages with serial, unfinished stories that had previously dominated the market. And although the two creators won the Talent of the Year award, the work unfortunately never gained popular appeal. The comic was simply not yet in vogue, and the relatively low print run meant that Necropolis it quickly vanished into oblivion and the hands of collectors.

It is therefore with a certain sense of reverence that the work once again sees the light of day. Necropolis has been dusted off and given a facelift. The deluxe edition comes with a lot of extra material, such as variant cover art from some of the comic scene's coolest artists, a secret extra book, posters, and much more.

Cav Bøgelund passed away in 2018 at the age of 39.
