A grotesque and surreal story about the hardest choice of existentialism: to live meaningfully. Mersault works as head waiter at the city's most prestigious hotel. He is a slave to the habit of seemingly meaningless routines, so when he one day finds the hotel owner dead, he decides to continue running the hotel as if nothing had happened. When Mersault dismembers the deceased owner's body and serves the meat to the unsuspecting guests, it is only the first link in a chain of meaningful, bloody coincidences.<\/p>\n
